In 1945, P. Ode Hegg began selling farmland in eastern South Dakota. It was the beginning of Hegg Companies, Inc., a family business founded on the principles of integrity and exceptional service.
In the 1960’s Peter Hegg became the second generation to lead the Hegg family business, adding his special expertise in hospitality, development and management. For over 40 years, Peter provided vision and leadership as Hegg Companies’ President and CEO.
In April 2002, Hegg named Paul Ode Hegg as its President and CEO. Paul brings his extensive experience, management expertise and pride in three generations of Hegg service to this position of leadership.

A proven leader in Hegg Companies Brokerage Division, Paul Ode Hegg is a veteran in the industry. Paul began his career in the commercial real estate field in 1993 with Hegg Companies, Inc. in Sioux Falls, SD, selling and leasing all types of commercial real estate properties including office, retail, warehouse, land, multi-family and income producing properties. In January of 1999, Paul assumed responsibility for the management of the Commercial Real Estate Sales and Leasing Division, overseeing its day-to-day operations. During this time, he received the professional designation of Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM). Paul has also been certified by and is a member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR), a professional symbol of the highest level of knowledge, production, and ethics in the real estate industry. Paul's thorough understanding of commercial real estate, development, syndications and hospitality management combined with his straightforward, honest and enthusiastic approach has provided the foundation of many long term client relationships and business growth.
Paul graduated in 1992 from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota with a B.S. degree in Business Management. His background, with years of commercial real estate experience, the third (3rd) generation owner of the firm and the day-to-day knowledge of the investment real estate industry, along with the hands-on management role that he plays within the organization (Paul was appointed as President and CEO of Hegg Companies in April 2002), has provided him with the tools and skills necessary to be a significant leader in the development and management of hospitality properties for Hegg Hospitality, a division of Hegg Companies, Inc. Paul has responsibility for oversight of Commercial Brokerage, Commercial Property Management, Asset Management, Hospitality Sales, Development and the recent addition of Esprit Memory Care. In addition to his involvement with Hegg Companies, Hegg Hospitality and Esprit Memory Care, Paul is involved in the ownership and oversight of three John Deere Dealerships, the ownership and management of commercial real estate investment properties and the daily oversight of the family trusts.
Paul is actively involved on various boards throughout the community and region including the Sioux Falls Development Foundation, Lutheran Social Services, Habitat for Humanity, and Wealshire, LLC (dba Wealshire of Bloomington), among others.
Peter P. Hegg graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, with majors in Speech and Economics. He has extensive experience in the development, acquisition, management, and disposition of all types of properties including hotels, apartments, and commercial properties.
He is a former Chairman and member of the South Dakota Real Estate Commission; former Regent at Augustana College Sioux Falls, South Dakota; former Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce Board Member; Past Chairman and Board Member of South Dakota Diversified Credit Services; Past Board Member of the Days Inn Franchise Advisory Committee; Past Board Member of Days Inns of America, Incorporated; and Past and Present Board Member of various organizations and companies throughout the United States and the region.
Pete is also a fifty-percent stockholder in three John Deere agricultural dealerships located in northwest Iowa, and is owner of the Circle H Ranch hunting lodge in Gregory, South Dakota.
A proven leader in Hegg Companies Office and Retail Brokerage Division, Kristen Hegg Zueger is a veteran in the industry. Kristen began her career in the commercial real estate field in 1989 in Minneapolis, MN, and achieved the Rookie of the Year award within her first year in the business. She continued that momentum as a leading commercial real estate professional within the Twin Cities market. Her commercial real estate career took her to Sioux Falls, SD in 1995 to join the family business as a third generation owner of a successful company started in 1945 by her grandfather. Along with an ongoing sales career Kristen has taken on management responsibilities of internal divisions and the raising of equity through various mediums including limited partnerships. Kristen's thorough understanding of commercial real estate, combined with her straightforward, honest and enthusiastic approach, has provided the foundation of many long term client relationships and business growth.
Kristen graduated with honors from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota with a major in Economics and two minors in Accounting and Management. Since joining the commercial real estate industry, Kristen has obtained the esteemed SIOR (Society of Industrial and Office Realtors) designation which represents the most knowledgeable, experienced and successful commercial real estate brokerage specialists internationally. Kristen is a member of the National Association of Realtors and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) where she is an active member.
Kristen's background, 22 years of commercial real estate experience and day-to-day knowledge of the investment real estate industry, along with the hands on management role that she plays within our organization, has provided her with the tools and skills necessary to be a significant team leader in the development and management of hospitality properties for Hegg Hospitality, a division of Hegg Companies, Inc., and as a partner in the recent formation of Esprit Memory Care, LLC.
Kristen has had leadership roles on various boards throughout the region including McCrossan Boys Ranch Board of Directors; McCrossan Boys Ranch Foundation Board; The Sioux Empire Chapter of the American Red Cross Board of Directors; Sanford Foundation Board and Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, among others.
Steven M. Westra is the Chief Executive Officer of Esprit Memory Care. His goal is to lead Esprit Memory Care to become the premier facility dedicated to the life, health, and well-being of those who suffer from dementia. Mr. Westra's personal, first-hand experience has enabled him to understand the debilitating effects that dementia, in all its forms, has on the daily struggles of caregivers and families, as well as those afflicted. In late 2009, Mr. Westra and Paul Ode Hegg, President of Hegg Companies, Inc., began discussions on building facilities around the Midwest that will allow residents suffering from dementia to live and die with pride and dignity.
Mr. Westra holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota. Prior to being one of the founding members of Esprit Memory Care, Mr. Westra spent 16 years in various roles with Pfizer (formerly Wyeth) and brings experience in management strategy, brand building, and workforce development. He has strong business acumen in operations, human resources, state government, and business development. In addition, Mr. Westra has served two terms with the Board of Health for the City of Sioux Falls. He excels at recognizing business priorities while maximizing the performance of the business and the development of people. His responsibilities include the day-to-day management of Esprit Memory Care as well as other projects, including business acquisitions and development.
Holly joined Hegg Companies in 2011 as the Chief Financial Officer. She has over 25 years of experience in public accounting and has worked in private accounting since 2010 bringing a wealth of knowledge to Hegg Companies. As part of her day-to-day responsibilities, Holly oversees all areas of finance, including but not limited to: Hospitality, Commercial Property Management, Commercial Real Estate Brokerage and Development. Holly specializes in financial reporting and controls and has worked with companies in a variety of industries including manufacturing, banking, hospitality, employee benefit plans and not-for-profit entities. She has worked with companies performing due diligence procedures for mergers and acquisitions as well as public reporting companies and initial public offerings. She has assisted businesses with a variety of business advisory services.
Holly is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; South Dakota Society of Certified Public Accountants, and is a licensed CPA in South Dakota.
A leader in the Sioux Falls community, Holly currently serves on the South Dakota Board of Accountancy as Board Chair; Treasurer of Sioux Falls Downtown Rotary; and is on the Sioux Falls Jazz and Blues Board of Directors, and the Better Business Bureau Advisory Board. Holly volunteers with Junior Achievement and Meals on Wheels. She has also played key roles in the Sioux Empire United Way, Habitat for Humanity, and SD Food Bank/Food Pantry on their Board of Directors and as Past President of those boards.
Holly Brunick graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an Accounting major in 1982. She has also participated in CFO training sponsored through the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Business.
Jacque Christopherson began her real estate management career at Hegg Companies in 1987 as the Director of Property Management where she was responsible for strategic asset management of commercial and residential properties. She was recognized by her peers as Property Management Professional of the Year for two consecutive years. Under her effective management and willingness to do whatever was needed, problems were identified and solved; balancing the needs of all those involved while following extensive government regulations and laws. It is Jacque's skill with people that makes her so effective. Her tact, diplomacy and ability to handle any situation, along with her background and years of expertise led her to transition into commercial real estate sales. In commercial and hospitality sales her leadership and understanding of the business has proven to be a valuable tool in delivering results for her clients. Jacque returned to the property management arena in 2011 and took over the responsibilities of the Property Management division of Hegg Companies; managing Hegg Estate and Circle H Ranch business; and maintaining an active commercial brokerage career.
Jacque graduated with honors from Colorado Technical University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. She is one of three private management professionals in the state of South Dakota to earn the designation of Certified Property Manager (CPM) from The Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). She holds a Broker Associate license and is an Affiliate Member of the National Association of Realtors. Her credentials endorse her competence, professionalism, and she is a trusted source of knowledge in the real estate industry.
Jennifer Seifert-Brenna earned her degree in Hotel/Motel/Restaurant Management at Moorhead State University in Moorhead, Minnesota, while working in the hospitality industry. After 18 years as a General Manager and 20 years in the industry, she has gained the trust and respect of her peers.
Jennifer joined Hegg Companies in June 2002 and along with her team has earned several prestigious service awards. She oversees the Hospitality Division of the company guiding the hotel leadership teams in daily operations and long term strategic planning. Jennifer has served on the Fargo-Moorhead Convention & Visitors Board of Directors, Fargo-Moorhead Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, MSCTC Advisory Council. She has also been a volunteer with the Roger Maris Cancer Center, among other leadership roles within the community.
Jennifer, her husband Mike, and their three children relocated to Sioux Falls from Moorhead, MN in July 2010 to expand her role with Hegg Companies.

A Hilton Garden Inn is the newest piece in the ongoing transformation of Sioux Falls' downtown river greenway. A collaborative effort of Hegg Companies, Inc., and Lloyd Companies will begin to emerge from the former Schoeneman's site, with roughly 100 rooms and 7,000 square feet of conference and banquet rooms, the facility is expected to open by Memorial Day, 2013.

Circle H Ranch provided a fabulous retreat for the 2011 Hegg Companies summer outing held in August.
For many years, Circle H Ranch served as a traditional, private ranch reserved for the exclusive enjoyment of the Hegg family and their guests. In 1992, we expanded the use from a family ranch to a limited private retreat to accommodate hunters and guests. Today, we welcome all visitors -- from business retreats to family reunions and hunting groups.
